Baptism
IN the High Church, we are delighted that you have decided that you wish your child to be baptised. However, we feel
it is important that you understand what Baptism is, what it means for your child, and what it means for you.
Before exploring its meaning, though, let's just clear one or two things up by explaining what Baptism is NOT. It is not a
'lucky charm'. There is nothing superstitious about Baptism; baptised children are not given some kind of divine immunisation
against the ills of the world. Your child will live in the world, will experience its ups and downs, like anyone else, and
will have to try to cope - as anyone has to. Baptism is NOT something that should be done to please older members of the
family; it has to be right for YOU at YOUR stage of life and you have to be able to take its vows seriously.
